The Shasta
Historical Society
History:
vvvvvvvvvvv McCONNELL FOUNDATION The McConnell Foundation was formed by Carl and Leah McConnell in order to share the benefit of their lifelong accomplishments. Mr. McConnell passed away in 1985, and by the time of Mrs. McConnell's death in 1995, their previously modest foundation had grown into the largest private foundation north of San Francisco. Through the uncommon generosity of Carl and Leah McConnell, The McConnell Foundation is a philanthropic organization positioned to help build better communities today and for future generations.
MORE INFO... The Shasta Lake Garden Project is a volunteer, nonprofit group of people who work and/or live in the city of Shasta Lake The groups' aim is to transform the City of Shasta Lake into the garden spot of the North Valley. The addition of beautiful public and private gardens in other municipalities is known to raise the level of community pride and add to its economic health. Hopes that may be realized soon are to have a completely landscaped down-town area, with attractive curbside and median planting along the entire length of the boulevard. Dreams for the future include a large botanical garden, with areas of various types of gardens, a pavilion for teas and weddings and a broad lawn area where lawn sports and tournaments may be held. With the same spirit that built this historical town, it can be done. Visit their web site at www.shastalakegardenproject.org. vvvvvvvvvvv
